Here is professor’s comment for the proposal:To make this project more specific consider the following question: In 1968, Douglas Engelbart proposed an “intelligence augmentation” system that would allow computing to enter into everyday life – an everyday life that would be networked, and where computers would augment human cognition. By 2010, however, this future vision, according to Susana Paasonen, turned out to function more on the resonance of affect, typically seen in the distribution of pornography, than on the augmentation of human cognition. How can we understand this difference between future vision and contemporary reality, and is there anything we can do about it?
