A Discussion of Dystopic Fiction and Current Events

UP TO 30 Extra Points Awarded at My Discretion
There are five options of books that you may respond to in the form of written discussion that I would like to offer in this class for extra credit. What I will be
looking for is a response to the books and the connections between course ideas and themes. The general theme of these books is they have some variation of an
imagined dystopic future based on ongoing events of the era.

Can you connect your discussion to the years that your book was published and the ongoing events of this era? Can you connect make these connections between past and
present?

1929-Great Depression started
1941-World War II Started
1945-World War II ended
1957-Emergence of Cold War

Consider the elements of Communism, Socialism, Authoritarianism, Oligopoly, Fascism, and Capitalism in your discussion. There is considerable freedom you have with
this discussion, however to get this extra credit, I am looking for well connected and structured discussion that accounts for historical events, a discussion of
attitudes, and a bridge to modern day attitudes and discussion.
