Actions Speak
Instructions:-
Title of Book: Actions Speak
Author: Paul C Green
Book Report/Critique Guideline
Following the basic outline below, provide me with a report and critique of the book you have read. Be sure to give your name on the first page.
A. Bibliographical Entry: APA format reference of the book at the top of the page.
B. Give a critique and summary of the book? A critique would give a description of the type of book and layout. In summary, be sure to cover the author’s main points or ideas. Tell what a behavior-based interview is versus the styles of trait-based interviews, gutfeeling (intuitive) and conversational interviews. (A compalizer is a behavioral assessment tool that will help you identify competencies you have that are used in a broad range of careers. A candidate would list their skills and rate them. The result should give you something of a profile that shows the strengths of your competencies. You can use this to help answer questions if you are the one being interviewed in a behavior-based interview). Paul Green makes use of the compalizer! What are the 6 steps to gain a behavioral predictor? What is the SHARE model? How do you wrap up the interview? Tell why it is good to debrief. Tell about any section that was of particular interest to you.
C. In the final paragraph give the overall strengths and/or weaknesses as you view it or your opinion of the book.
D. Remember this is a book report and should be about the book and not about you. The only mention of you should be your opinion of the book. I should be able to tell you have read the book.
If you have not read Green’s Get Hired! It is a great book for you if you are being interviewed whereas Actions Speak helps you prepare to be the interviewer,
