Reflection Essay 1 Question:

Write an essay in which you address the issue of how the colonists won their independence or, how did the British lose their 13 colonies. As you write your essay, you should include the following points:

–why did some of King George’s American colonists rebel against him and why did some colonists remain loyal to the crown? What do the divisions within the colonial population tell us about the American Revolution?

–the American War of Independence has been called Britain’s Vietnam in that the British possessed an incredible military and economic advantage and yet were unable to defeat the colonials. How do you explain this?

–finally, what do you think was the greatest legacy of the American Revolution? Be specific. You should address all five of these points in your essay.
