Analyse what you take to be the strongest argument on behalf of human genetic engineering. Make sure to: (1) clearly state the argument, (2) explain how the premises provide support for the
conclusion, (3) evaluate the truth-value of each premise, i.e. provide evidence that the premise is true or provide evidence that the premise is false, and (4) pay attention to
metaphysicaVscientific considerations as well as purely ethical ones in providing your analysis.
Attached are the essay instructions (essay question number 3) Also attached are 3 lecture slides that need to be read in order to write the essay
Arguments: To be human is to strive for improvement therefore genetic engineering isn’t bad. Genetically engineering a baby will still result with 46 chromosomes (in exception of autistic children
or anything else) which is still human.
Problem: Ethics
Those are just suggestions. In the process of the argument, explain what it is to be human (or a person) to make the argument stronger. 46 chromosomes = human (exception for autism or anything
else) (science terms) AND to be a person is to be self aware/conscious SO after genetic engineering you’re still human because of these things
