the need to comment on the war. In your essay, please address the following questions:

1. What stance did the music you have chosen to assess take on the Vietnam War? Were these musicians supportive or opposed to the war effort?

2. Did the artists specify why they were for or against the war? What specific events and participants do they refer to in their lyrics?

3. Did these musicians reflect or shape American public opinion of the war?

4. What overall point would you make about the music of the Vietnam era?

Although there are dozens of songs written about the Vietnam War, you would do well to choose a small sample (about four to five) and analyze them. Your essay should
be about five pages in length, typed, and double-spaced with proper citations.
