Question 1

Introduce the concepts of human genome, genome sequence, and genome sequencing process. Focusing on genome-wide association study (GWAS), how do you think CDSS will look like a decade from today,
based on what you learned from reading Topol’s chapters on genome sequencing and the increasing ability of machines to produce accurate picture of human genes and how changes in certain genes can
predict and/or cause illnesses? If you have not purchased the Topol text as optional for the course, you can easily locate basic information on GWAS and genome sequencing on the web and via NSU HPD
library. Genomics and related pharmacology studies are also parts of Chapter 12 in the Berner textbook.

Question 2

What is Boolean logic and what is its role in building clinical decision support systems? Use one brief example to justify and showcase the role of Boolean logic in CDSS. Do not use any examples
from required textbooks and think of your own clinical scenario/situation. After introducing your situation, use basic building blocks of Boolean logic, i.e. AND, OR, XOR, to show practical use of
this logic to address your clinical situation.

Question 3

Introduce and explain the concept of logistic regression. How does it help clinical decision support models to assist clinicians with the decision making process? Focus most specifically on medical
prediction models while answering this question.

Question 4

List 5 – 6 CDSS intervention types. Pick one of the types and propose a high-level CDSS treating a specific patient condition utilizing this intervention. Draw a diagram of the data flow between
various applications within your proposed architecture. Use software of your choice, i.e. Power Point or Visio.

Develop 5 simple use-case scenarios for the architecture and interventions you proposed as part of the answer to Question 4
