Environmental concerns ranging from global warming, safe storage of nuclear waste to endangered species have gained increasing societal attention in the last 40 years. While some are convinced that profit oriented companies are the evil destroying natural resources, others claim that environmental strategies and profitability go hand in hand. More recently more and more companies develop an explicit environmental strategy. Why do they do so? And if they develop environmental strategies is it more than a lip service?
