1. Military units request logistical support for a specific service or the need for a specific type of equipment that they already don’t have.
A. Their request is routed through the proper channels for initial approval by a commanding officer.
B. A review is conducted to ensure that all other options have been exhausted before proceeding the contract process.
2. Market research is conducted to find the best offers from the companies for the requests.
3. The results of the market research conducted will show agencies what can or cannot be purchased.
A. A performance work statement (PWS) or statement of (SOW) is generated that allows the cost of the request items to be analyzed.
B. Once the acquisition is approved then the funds can be allocated for the purchases.
