Introduction (Approx. 150 words)
~ Introduce the major topic of discussion, the particular theorist you are going to discuss,
and how you intend to address the theorist’s contributions within the body of the essay.
Define the theory

Body of Essay (~1500 words)

~ The first section should present a brief biographical/ cultural perspective of the
theorist. (~200 words)
~The second section provides a brief overview of the main contributions made by the
theorist. Remember that you are only introducing the contributions here as subsequent
paragraphs will discuss these points in greater depth. (~200 words)
~ The main section (e.g. paragraphs three – five) should cover the key ideas of the
theorist. In these paragraphs you will be discussing those points that you have determined
as being the most pertinent contributions the theorist has made. (~900 words)
~ The last section will present a brief understanding of how this theorist contributes to
understanding 21st century society. (~200 words)
Please note that all paragraphs should include well sourced, good quality peer reviewed references to support the information presented.
Conclusion (Approx. 150 words)
~ Summarise main points raised in the body of the essay
~ Offer a final link back to the essay topic
