Creative Play Spaces (Value: 30%; Due: Session 5) (Accomplished Practices: a. 1; a.3) (InTASC: Planning; Knowledge of Subject Matter; NAEYC: 5 Curriculum) The purpose
of this activity is to design an indoor or outdoor play space for children of an age group of your choice (ages 3-8). The focus of the play areas should be on
fostering dramatic play and on supporting multicultural and traditional games. Be creative in your design! You will need to do the following: 1. Provide a rationale
for your design stating the need for it and its specific purpose (developmental and curricular), 2. Identify the location of your play space (include a graph or blue
print) and indicate why it meets the needs of the target age group, 3. Include a sample of the materials children would find to support play behaviors, 4. Identify the
multicultural and diversity elements that will be addressed through your design 5. Explain how the play area contributes to the child’s development. 6. Identify the
curricular areas targeted through your play space. Briefly describe each one (at least two areas). 7. Present your design in class using PowerPoint.
