Critical Analysis of One (1) Peer-reviewed Journal Article

Steps:
Preparation Phase
1. Read the article carefully and critically
2. Note: You are required to use academic journals; that is, you may not use websites or magazines (the use of sources other than peer reviewed will cause your paper to receive a zero (0) grade).

Composition Phase:
3. Write your Critical Analysis. Include Title Page with Author Note, butdo not include the abstract page.

4. Write an “Introduction” that describes the issue at hand and its importance to the field – do not entitle it “Introduction” or any other heading.

5. Weave a brief overview of the article’s content into your paper, especially point to the conclusions the author(s) discovers.

6. Compose your critical analysis of the paper, considering (but DO NOT slavishly) the following:
5.1. In your professional opinion, what was profound or new from the article?
5.2. What were the strengths/weaknesses in the content? What in the context of your topic?
5.3. What key information might you use to inform your own discussion of your research topic?
5.4. Are any section headings sparking your research interests? Why? How? To what end?

7. Include a separate reference page (APA pages 198-199).

Composition Parameters and Submission Criteria:
 UseLevel 1 Headings to create separate sections (APA, pages 62-63)
 Include Title Page (APA page 41)
 Write a Reference page using APA manual for proper reference of specific source
 Use APA Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 for proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and construction of thoughts.

2. Peer-reviewed Article – annotated (highlight the quotations and sections you paraphrase?)

Note: You are required to write in first-person pluralorthird person for CA#1 and the research papers. DO NOT use “I think” or “in my opinion.” If you are unfamiliar with writing in first-person plural or third person, refer to the APA Manual (pg 69), conduct an internet search for examples, or contact the instructor. Keep the writing focus on a professional analysis (not on yourself).
