1. a paper in which you describe and comment on a written text, film or other work
2. Your review should be divided into sections (do not use subheading). These should be:
a. give the following information in your intro:
key information: name of piece, mane of author/producer, place and date of publication
a brief statement of what the piece is about (not a complete summary, just a line or two)
Thesis statement: what do you think about the information being presented here?
b. summary
your summary should be short (aim for about 1/3 of the body of your paper). In the summary:
focus on the main points-what is being said here? what is the work about?
don’t go too much detail
don’t analyze here; this can come later
c.your own analysis/opinion
your analysis should be longer than your summary (aim for 2/3 of the body of your essay). you have a lot of freedom in what you say here. exactly what you do in this section will depend on the work you are looking at. Likely you will use two or three of the critical reading questions as the basis for your comments.
d. conclusion
no more than a quick summary of what you have said. Do not introduce new ideas here.
