In our class, we have discussed the different kinds of conflict in narrative storytelling.

External- Character vs Character, Society, and Environment
Internal- Character vs Self

Consider the gender stereotypes places on all of us. How do gender stereotypes appear in literature and other forms of story telling? How can gender relate to narrative conflict? Please examine one of the female characters and one of the male characters from our readings, and describe how the conflict is obvious and discreet.

Answer these guild-line questions
– How are the women represented in the story?
– How does the author regard women?
– How do these characters experience oppression and discrimination?
– Is it similar or different?
