Ten minutes into his speech there is a spark from the microphone attached to Zane’s jacket lapel. The microphone quickly ignites engulfing Zane in flames, killing him instantly. The electrical company, Sparks R Us Limited, had negligently installed the microphone equipment. John, a stage assistant, rushes onto the stage with a fire extinguisher to put out the flames but in so doing he trips over Zane and he too dies in the fire. Chaos erupts as people in the audience and back stage try to exit the conference venue, creating a stampede resulting in a number of deaths and injuries to people.Zane’s wife, Carol, is seated in the wings of the stage eagerly watching Zane’s passionate speech at the time of the incident. Although not injured herself, she witnesses her husband die and is now suffering from severe depression, that she cannot leave her house each day. Fifteen years ago Carol was diagnosed with severe depression, which she recovered from, by attending counselling sessions. Avid holistic fan Mary, was in the audience filming Zane, she uploaded the footage to YouTube, which is now being viewed globally. John’s sister, Tanya, who lives in Canada, views the footage of her brother’s burnt body. She suffers post traumatic shock and can no longer work.
