Assignment 2 Details
Your assignment should consist of:
1. An introduction that summarises key company and contextual information from your first assignment (no more than 200 words)
2. A critical evaluation of the environmental sustainability strategy and performance of your company. To do this you may wish to address questions such as
i. How does the company use environmental management systems and performance measures?
ii. How well does the company apply the principles of resource savings (the 5Rs) to its operations, supply chain management and/or marketing management?
iii. How comprehensive and transparent does the company appear to be in dealing with sustainability issues?
3. The use of appropriate concepts, frameworks and theories to support your analysis
4. A conclusions section that sums up your evaluation and makes recommendations for improvements.
Your work will be judged on its overall coherence and hence only one mark will be given.
Format Requirements
This assignment should be presented in the form of a report and saved as a word document not a pdf
Maximum wordcount of 2000 words.
Title page, contents and reference list are excluded from the word limit. Tables, models and diagrams count towards the word limit.

MODULE AIMS
The module reviews the stress that business places on our natural environment. It considers the stakeholder pressures on business to adopt an environmental strategy that reduces this burden. The module discusses key environmental issues such as global warming, pollution, and the recycling of electronic equipment and the role of business in contributing and responding to such issues. The role of the Internet in improving the environmental performance of industry is assessed. The module concludes by evaluating the changes required to make business truly environmentally sustainable.

5. TEACHING LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT STRATEGY
Students will learn through lectures and seminars that include practical activities, and discussing case examples on video. Students will be encouraged to develop and use their research skills to analyse companies of their choice (some restrictions on choice apply)
Assessment consists of two individual pieces of coursework, both based on companies chosen by students. The first assignment (30% of module mark) requires an analysis of the environmental context and priorities of these companies. The second assignment (70% of module mark) evaluates the environmental strategy and performance of these companies and makes recommendations for improved practice. Both assignments will involve collecting data from sources such as the internet, journal papers, annual reports and press comment. Students will evaluate the company’s choices and progress and interpret these in terms of the relevant environmental business literature and competitor analysis.
