Flooring Finishes, Hard and Soft surfaces
Objective: Research the sustainable properties of a Finish product. In the category of finishes, we are looking at materials that cover surfaces, flooring, walls, windows and ceilings. To begin we are looking at Flooring Finishes, i.e. hard flooring, resilient flooring and soft flooring. We will also look at Wall, Window and Ceiling finishes.
Focus: To examine within a category of finishes, the properties of the material and the sustainable properties of the materials that interior designers specify. To speak/write about sustainable properties and to investigate the ever expanding universe of sustainable finishes.
Outcome: To understand the BASIC sustainable qualities of a Finish. To develop a vocabulary of sustainable terms. To understand the research required to select and verify sustainable finishes. To learn about conversations going on concerning sustainable finishes. To write coherently about sustainable finishes.
