Geneotypes. Academic Essay

In poultry, the allele, B, can result in black feathers. Its allele, b, can produce white splashed feathers. The heterozygous results in blue feathers. Another distinct gene Q has two alleles of importance for feather color. Allele, Q, which is dominant, allows for deposition of color in the feather while allele q, which is recessive, is unable to allow color to be deposited. Homozygous qq, therefore, results in white feathers. In each of the following 3 cases give the geneotypes of the parental birds and their offspring.

A. a blue bird and a white bird produce a bird that is black.

B. Two black birds which produce 54 black birds and 42 white birds.

C. Two blue birds which produce 16 black, 47 blue and 14 white splashed birds.
