• Definition (use of Robotics in Cad/Cam), benefits, disadvantages, why did I choose this topic?
CAD/CAM refers to Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing. It is one of the important technology in manufacturing and every year its improving more and more.
Computer Aided design (CAD) is the term that responsible of the design part of the project using different CAD software’s, and there are many benefits in using CAD such as improvement in the quality of the work, imperceptible, shorter lead time, more accurate design and plenty more.
Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is term of using the data from CAD to manufacture a desired part using different tools such as CNC machines and Robotics.(Mikell P. Groover, Emory W. Zimmers, Jr.1939)
This paper will be mainly focused on the use of CAD/CAM in Robotics, Industrial robots is one of the recent manufacturing systems they are used in different type of industries and have different applications. Robotics has improved the production rate and has showed plenty of advantages and as well as some disadvantages that will be discussed later. G.C. Devol has delivered the idea of industrial robot in 1954.
Robots had a great impact on the industry field as it made jobs much easier and quicker and with a better quality and good accuracy.(Yoram Koren,1985)
(add why did I chose this topic)
• Developments of Robotics (1stgeneration……..3rd Generation)
Throughout the years industrial robots has been through a lot of developments and improvements and it is divided into 4 generations, the 1st generations is group of robotics arms and manipulator being used in simple tasks such as loading and unloading.
The next generation is called the intermediate generation, which is sensor is being added to the robots.
The 2nd generation the robots from the previous generation been developed more by adding more sensors instead of just one and have more degree of freedom.
The 3rd generation is where the robots is considered by highly developed in making decision using artificial intelligence and different models such as multi-manipulators.(Camarinha-Matos, L.M.,1987)
• Applications(why cad/cam used in this )
• Future of robotics( the different opinions of writers and who do I agree with, suggestions on improving it.)insure it is your own ideas and opinions.
Alan Turing and Steven Cherry have pointed out in the “The Great Robotics Debate” that Robot will take over all most all the jobs which will lead to great percentage of unemployment.(Moshe Y.,2013)
In my opinion developing robotics won’t increase the number of unemployment people but it will open a new field of studies and jobs such as working on robotics languages and codes and programing and operating them, and there isn’t a machine that will work all the time without making any error so human operator must be in control to avoid any mistake.
I think that industrial robots will help and prevent the employee from any risk so it will be an advantage not as a disadvantage to the human.
In my opinion the robotics will need……………………..(ideas on how to develop robots)………..
