How Should we live museum exhibition(at MOMA)
writing about graphic design in this exhibition. You should look at everything, but DO NOT WRITE ABOUT FURNITURE OR INTERIOR DESIGN. Write about printed objects –
there are lots of posters.
You need to include a paragraph of introduction about the paper as a whole (write this AFTER you have finished the rest of the paper. You can’t introduce what you are
going to say until you know what you are going
to say.)Then write one detailed paragraph about each of your five objects and how they relate to the exhibition as a whole as well as topics we are studying in class.
Identify each object, describe, and discuss. Your description and discussion should include specific visual elements in the object you are writing about – think about
the
composition and the choices the designer has made in addition to what the object “is about”.
Then conclude with a paragraph that summarizes your findings. For this paper, both your introduction and your conclusion should talk about the exhibition as a whole.
You could also consider the significance of graphic design and printing to this larger movement. Do not include reproductions of the objects you write
about. You do have to identify each object completely, including artist, date, and title, so that I can look it up if I don’t remember it.You should explain what is
unique or specific about each object but also what larger ideas it represents
or what style it is. If it is similar to an object we have discussed in class, that is a good place to start.
