Order Description

Research Paper (10 Sources) The Research Paper may take the form of an argument essay or a report and should have a minimum of 1000 words and should be submitted and saved as a WORD file. (see Research Requirement following this description.) The requirements for the first draft and the final draft are exactly the same. All first editions must be submitted before the published deadline expires. Revisions must be sent to the instructor saved as a Word file through course mail only. Students who miss the deadline may not submit late assignments and may not revise their assignments. Information about the research process is covered in Chapters 45-53.

The instructor values well-structured and clearly focused arguments.. The instructor values academic and reliable sources.

In the introduction, there should be background information about the topic that narrows to a specific point, argument or thesis.

Each of the body paragraphs should have a main idea statement that performs two functions: (1) the sentence should connect to some part of the thesis or argument and (2) the main idea should limit the support within the paragraph to a specific focus. Be sure not to include off-topic information in a body paragraph.

The conclusion of the research paper should summarize or provide an overview of the findings of your research and should provide some insight on the topic.

Sources should be integrated within in the text. Short quotes should begin and end with quotation marks in the text. Longer quotes of four lines or longer should be indented from the left and should not have quotation marks. FOLLOW EVERY QUOTE with your own words of interpretation, close reading, or analysis. The percentage of quotes to your words should not exceed 20% from the source material.

Use MLA or APA documentation standards for the parenthetical citations within the text and on the Work Cited page. Create a page break (not a separate document) for the Work Cited page.

Required research for Research Paper : Passages from ten articles from the college databases must be included to meet the minimum research requirement (for a minimum grade). Use academic databases from the college for arguments that center on general topics. (You may want to thumb through your textbook for the readings at the back to discover possible topics that may interest you to research.) You may use other sources to supplement your argument once you have satisfied the minimum research requirement. You should also include a work cited page. Follow the MLA or APA standard format for sources and for the design and presentation of the work cited page. All formal writing assignments must be typed with a 12 Times New Roman font, and must include a heading, which states your name, instructor’s name (Dr. Huffer), course number (ENC 1102), date, and assignment (exact name of the assignment). Please do not include a cover page.
