Assessment Criteria and Marking Scheme

The following learning outcomes will be assessed:

1 Critically discuss the foundations of HRM and its relationship to the traditional practice of personnel management and industrial relations, as applied within the western world and to explore if these foundations still have relevance in the face of emerging new economies and globalisation

2 Critically discuss the application of key areas of HR practice, such as strategic planning, resourcing, development, motivation and reward, and the role of Line Management in ensuring that these practices result in an empowered and engaged workforce
3 Analyse and evaluate HR practice in contemporary work situations, coming to critically argued conclusions and recommendations via HRM practice scenarios

The assessment will be done accordingly to the following criteria:

1. Identify the issues within the context of the assigned HRM question and from this to demonstrate a logical structure and layout for the paper (10 marks)
2. Apply research skills to examine and demonstrate a knowledge of relevant areas of HRMand of the literature relevant to the issues (25 marks)
3. Critically analyse and discuss literature and theory (30 marks)
4. Draw conclusions from this critical analysis and discussion (25 marks)
5. Correctly reference all sources included in the paper(10 marks)
