No Mas Bebes director: Renee Tajima-Peña Academic Essay

English 101 Major Assignment 2: Draft Analysis paper worth 75 points
Overview: For this assignment you will analyze one of the documentaries assigned as homework and discussed in class. Generally, your essay should address the film maker (s)’ purpose, the film’s content, and whether or not the thesis was stated or implied. You should use the director’s and the producer’s name, and identify the primary audience and the type of materials used to create buy-in from them. Specifically, you must discuss the ways in which the documentary is relevant to topics discussed in class, and whether anything important was left out or could have been clarified or expanded. Identify issues raised in the film that were emphasized or downplayed, and why. Finally, as a viewer, were there any “unintentional” results of your viewing it? What are some reasons you would and wouldn’t suggest others to view this documentary? How might the documentary impact others different from you (i.e. gender, ethnicity, race, religion, culture, etc.)? What did you learn from the documentary, and/or how did it enhance your understanding of issues it raised and/or the context in which it is situated? Did you learn anything from your Review writing experience?
