With reference to the attached article (additionally you can also draw on some of the articles on the syllabus of Week 10) discuss the historical development of populism and elaborate on the various contemporary forms of populism today.

2.)  Choose a certain political party and/or leader and discuss the narratives, discourses, practices and political strategies they engender, which could be framed as populism. With reference to your chosen example, elaborate on what constitutes their “success” and “appeal” in the eyes of “the people”.    

3.)  Is populism a major threat to representative democracy and the democratic ideal? Why or why not? Discuss!
