Instead of a quiz or chapter summary, students can write a brief (1-2 page double-spaced page) analysis of how one or more of the primary sources available on the companion website to The Rise of Western Power relates to topics developed in a given chapter (on the companion website, click on Primary Sources by Chapter). Each primary source is keyed directly to individual subchapters (for example, Primary Source 3.2 is pared with Chapter 3: The Papal Revolution, Subchapter 2: The Western Church). One primary source analysis is required. Failure to complete one primary source analysis will result in the deletion of your two top chapter response scores.
