Most minimum wage workers now live in non poor households because they are second or third earners in a family, such as teenage dependents. Second, most workers from poor households earn wage rates higher than the minimum wage. Hence, raising the minimum wage is not target efficient at reducing poverty among the working poor. Raising the minimum wage hike may actually increase the poverty rate because the increase adverse effect on hours worked will push non poor families into poverty.Higher minimum wages do not address the main reason that most poor families live below the poverty line. Contrary to what many assume, low wages are not the primary problem, because most poor Americans do not work for the minimum wage. The problem is that most poor Americans do not work at all it’s true maybe if they would start working they wouldn’t have a problem with the conditions they are in so it would be better if they can start working and be able to live off what they have instead of being lazy because they don’t want to work that much that’s why are poor in the first place like i said raising the minimum wage won’t really do much because it would make prices just go up higher and it might make it harder to live off of it so or they shouldn’t ask for that much for a minimum wage because that seems like a lot and it probably cause companies to fire some employees because of what the people want it’s best to just keep it the way it is right now.And if the minimum wage was raised it would make it harder for low-skilled people to find jobs and it’s not fair for the people that have been working for the same company or place for years because the new people would be making way more money than the people that were there way before them i just think it’s not fair for them.And then raising the minimum wage makes goods and services more expensive could increase the cost of food by 43%, that’s not good at all it’s just going to be the same as before.Some minimum wage advocates argue that teenagers should be in high school or college anyway not working and therefore the loss of jobs for young workers is somehow not very harmful. Ironically, though, economic studies have shown that a higher minimum wage entices some teenage students to drop out. With fewer jobs to go around and a greater number of dropouts, some newer dropouts take jobs from the less-educated and lower-productivity teens who had already left school. So that’s another reason that minimum wage should stay the same students should keep going to school and complete their education and have a better chance at having a better job and possibly a lot more money and so they can find a better career or job for themselves instead of doing something they don’t want to do for the rest of their lives. And with a better education that mean if they ever wanted to have a family they easily support his or her family so teegnagersdhouldnt drop out just because if they did raise the minimum wage to 15 dollars doesn’t meant they should quit school it could mess up their lives or they wouldn’t like doing something they don’t like. Raising the minimum wage is not a clean victory for the poor. Yes, a minimum wage hike to $15 an hour would help millions of workers with higher earnings. But it would also hurt millions who would lose earnings because they cannot attain or retain a job. Only a very small percent of any income gains would go to workers who are actually in poverty. Raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2020 would cost 6.6 million jobs.So then millions of fmilies would have to suffer beacuse loss of jobs because companies cant really afford to lose alot of money and so it just makes it worse then it does better only so little will benefit from this if it did happen its better to keep it like this because it would do that much damage to others or familes i would really hate to see people suffering from this they would most likely be homeless because they wouldn’t know what to do with out a job. In effect, raising the minimum wage simply shifts income from the low-wage workers who lose their jobs to the low-wage workers who remain employed. And it accomplishes this without effectively helping those most in need. Having a job is the best path out of poverty, as unemployed people are four times more likely to be poor than those who are employed. So, a more promising way to actually help low-income families would be to explore wage subsidies and other incentives that promote work, such as an improved Earned Income Tax Credit, the PRO wage proposal, a direct paycheck wage subsidy or other approaches. Programs like these increase income and are designed to much more effectively help those who are in poverty. Rather than destroying jobs, these programs effectively promote employment by increasing the value of working without forcing employers to pay the cost. So Reducing poverty is a worthy goal. But raising the minimum wage and putting 6.6 million people out of work is not the way to achieve it. Finally If the minimum wage is increased its going to be basically the same because it will just tell the store’s in the united states to bring up the prices so it would be exactly the same. So therefore the minimum wage should just stay same not really no point to bringing it up to fifteen dollars that’s too much so that would be another way for the store to bring up prices even the gas stations and other places that we use in everyday situations so i think it should stay the same. And then if we do raise it it may cause unemployment which is bad so people will lose their jobs and then it’ll be worse for the people that have families because then they will be homeless and the children won’t have a good life they will just be roaming the streets so i’m saying it would be best to keep it the way it is right now or just not too much because that is a little too much for a minimum wage, so i would leave it the way it is now so it wouldn’t cause problems for the U.S.
