For this essay, as it is an argumentative essay, please discuss and argue the following question:

– Can securitized-development overcome the ‘crisis’ of liberal peace?

As I have not reached a conclusion whether to support this claim or argue against, I would like to give you the reigns on deciding whether securitized-development can overcome the ‘crisis’ of liberal peace, based on the reading/sources you will use. (I will provide below a few sources that will help you in determining what is the best stance to take on this matter). However, I would strongly urge you to argue AGAINST it, this is the preferred stance I would like you to take.

Firstly, I would like to mention that the structure of the essay should be as follows:

1) Introduction (where your thesis/position is stated; regarding whether securitized development can overcome the ‘crisis’ of liberal peace) Additionally, in or just after the introduction you can discuss briefly how after the Cold War, Liberalism (market economy, democracy) was the dominate theoretical approach and how it conquered over Communism; and how it was evident which countries/nations where in the Core (democratic) and which countries/nations where in the Periphery (who were seen as violent and disorderly). However, including this short background depends on your research and whether is it relevant to the argument. Finally at the end of the introduction kindly lay out briefly what will be discussed in the essay following the introduction. The introduction should not be very lengthy, I would say 2 paragraphs maximum.

2) A brief 1 paragraph section on Definitions (what is ‘liberal peace’, what is securitized development, what is state-buliding) – and any other words you believe are important to define for the essay relating to this topic.
For this section, you must define these terms not from a dictionary but from Scholarly articles that discuss securitized development and the ‘crisis of liberal peace’ and what they are. (this can be easily found during your research of sources) In this section when you define a term, like ‘Liberal Peace’ for instance, and Securitized Development, you must in-text cite the source/author. Example: According to Sutha Nadarajah … the meaning of Liberal Peace in the world of International Relations is… then in-text cite after your definition.
3) Paragraphs giving in-depth examples on where securitized development has take place and whether they were a failures or successes or how it contributes to the ‘crisis of liberal peace’ (at least 4 examples, and then give a clear and strong analysis for each) This will be the bulk of the essay so it is crucial that is clear and the analysis well thought out.

4) 2-3 Paragraphs showing how, if we think about it from a Realist point of view, it is very clear why securitized development is taking place and how it is used to advance some and keep others down. For this section kindly use Samuel Huntington for your realism argument. If you choose to use more than 1 Realist proponent to further illustrate/solidify your stance (which is never a bad thing), please keep in mind that using Samuel Huntington is required. Any other proponents of realism who discuss this matter are additional.

5) This section should discuss/highlight in-depth, the Ethical and Political and/or Social implications that Securitized Development/Liberal Peace buliding can have (at least 2-3 paragraphs)

6) 2-3 paragraphs giving a worthy Refutation of your argument (here is where you bring in at least 3 authors/credited individuals that argue against your thesis) as all sections, this refutation section must clearly demonstrate what the counter arguments to you position are.
