Situation
Based on the lack of research that show results and because he believes it is biased against gays and lesbians, a colleague of yours is against referring gay men for reparative therapy (counseling to convert a gay man to straight). One day, a gay man who is very depressed and upset about his sexuality asks this colleague for a referral to a reparative therapist. The colleague explains the lack of research and discusses with the client the positive and affirming aspects of being gay.
