Introduction You are required to develop and submit an essay on a topic approved by your instructor. The topic of your essay should align with at least one of the course learning outcomes found in the syllabus. This will provide you a good deal of latitude and scope as you select and research your topic. Review the course learning outcomes as a means of helping to define your topic and to shape your hypothesis, issue or thesis. To perform well on this assignment you will need to do the following: 1. Conduct an analysis of laws/regulations, anti-terrorism policies and programs as seen in legislation, case studies, different domestic anti-terrorism agencies, programs, and initiatives that relate directly to your topic. For example, you may analyze the emergence of international terrorism and governments’ responses to it have led to novel questions for courts at the intersection of constitutional, criminal, international, and procedural law. You also may analyze topics such as anti-terrorism legislation, terrorism investigations and prosecutions. 2. Assess the potential effect of terrorism or counterterrorism on: I. National security and commercial interests of the United States, and II. National security and commercial interests of the other Western or economically competitive nations.
