Before the debate
2 teams of approximately five/six students each will be chosen in the weeks preceding the debate. One team will be ‘’for’’ the motion and the other ‘’against’’.
Written task:
Each student participating in the debate MUST hand in ONE page. This page of work carries 52 marks as follows:

1. Define your role and main argument in the debate (10 marks)
2. Give the references in APA format for the information which forms the basis of your argument.(15 marks)
3. Write a few paragraphs reflecting on your experience in researching and preparing in your team for the class debate(s), how you assigned roles, integrated the work of all participants to make a coherent argument, and what you learnt from the process.(27 marks)

1. Define your role and main argument in the debate
Excellent. Clear roles and arguments identified. (8-10 marks) Very good.
Some small omission or lack of clarity. (6 – 7 marks) Average.
Important omissions or failures to clarify role. (4-5 marks) Fail.
Little attempt to define roles and explain arguments.
(0 – 3 marks) Total marks
2. Give the references in APA format for the information which forms the basis of your argument
. Excellent. Totally complies with APA
(13-15 marks) Very Good.
Some small mistakes in relation to APA
(10 – 12 marks) Average.
Many errors in following the APA format
(8 -9 marks) Fail.
Does not follow APA at all.

(24-27 marks) Very Good.

Poor assessment of how the team worked and what was learnt.
