Conducting research (writing a position paper in the case of your class) is a creative activity, which provides
the opportunity of applying what you have learned in this class for developing an argument to support or reject a
widely prevailed idea or perception in our local, regional, national or even global economy. It is therefore
important that should do your best effort to articulate on how your views compare and contrast with the existing
common theme or opinion or go contrary to such belief or perception. You are not limited in what you want to
say except by the power of your own logic and the strength of the scientific reasoning that you present to support
your argument. Think creatively, argue logically, and use what you learned in this class.
Finding a topic, which can be of interest and suitable for the beginners of learning a discipline can often be a hard
task. It has therefore been decided to provide you with a list of suggested topics. You can choose any of the
suggested topics or propose your own. If you decide to have your own topic, you need to clear it with your
professor. This is only to make sure that your topic is relevant to the purpose of the study of this course. These
suggested topics do not support any of the ideas presented in the formulation of the questions/topics raised. They
are NOT reflection of your own professors belief or ideas. They are supposed to be provocative and you may be
totally against them or find support for a number of them. The important issue in here is to argue against or for
and pay attention on how you can support or reject them with the power of your reasoning. Remember, your
position can be for, against, or a mixture and conditional support of any of the arguments given
below but your grade for the assignment is based on the strength of your reasoning and nothing else
