exploratory literary analysis, you will write multiple literary analysis paragraphs that are in some way connected in the deeper meanings that they discuss. You will also attempt to articulate what that connection is. However, unlike a full-scale literary analysis essay that presents a central interpretive argument (thesis) and unites all of the surface/depth claims to it, this paper will only present the surface/depth claims and begin to explore possible central, unifying arguments.

write an exploratory literary analysis paper about The Turn of the Screw (TOS) that does two things:
1. Provides 3-5 literary analysis paragraphs, like those you wrote for Writing Assignment #1, each of which makes a surface/depth claim about TOS and supports it with textual evidence and explanation. However, these paragraphs must have a common thread or idea when it comes to the deeper meaning being explored in the surface/depth claims.
2. Ends with 1-2 paragraphs that explain (a) what you see as the common thread or idea between the literary analysis paragraphs and (b) how that common thread or idea is present in each of the literary analysis paragraphs.
