I am an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who works as a nurse practitioner in the United States. I obtained a Master of Science in Nursing from X University. I specialized in family practice. With these qualifications, I am able to provide a wide range of primary, acute and preventive healthcare services to patients (Jarvis, 2016). The National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards are concerned with the improvement of healthcare quality and advancement of health equity. The goal of the standards is to come up with a framework through which healthcare organizations can serve the increasing number of diverse communities in the country (Office of Minority Health, n.d.). The National CLAS Standards helps to ensure that healthcare practitioners provide respectful and understandable care which is responsive to the diverse cultural health practices and beliefs. In order for this to be achieved, healthcare organizations are required to come up with policies and goals that are both culturally and linguistically appropriate.
