Introduction (4-5 pages) Program/institution information Provide relevant background information about the program/institution (e.g., When was it founded? Where is it located? What is the organizational structure of the program/institution? How many students are enrolled in the program/how many prospective students are associated with the institution? What is the nature of the program/institution and what are its main purposes? For ESL programs: What are the theoretical and pedagogical orientations of the program? What are the teachers’ backgrounds, training, and experiences? What opportunities and support does the program provide for teacher development?) Describe the nature and structure of the current curriculum if applicable (e.g., how is the curriculum organized? What are the different levels at which instruction is provided? How are students placed into the different levels? What courses are offered at each level? How many hours of instruction are offered to students at each level? How are students promoted to the next level?). Include specific course information if relevant. Discuss other relevant factors (e.g., changes in student population) which may impact instruction at the institution. Student information Provide relevant information about the students or prospective students (e.g., what are their cultural and language backgrounds? What is the age range? What are their educational backgrounds? ) Statement of the problem and research questions Discuss the factors which motivate the needs analysis and the purpose of the needs analysis project. State the specific research questions which guide the needs analysis. 2 Literature review (4-5 pages) Present a synthesis of the existing literature which informs your needs analysis. In your literature review, you can include research literature which reports findings on students’ needs, describes methods and techniques of needs analysis, or addresses other relevant aspects of needs analysis. Include a minimum of eight (8) sources in the literature review. Methodology, analysis and interpretation of data (8-10 pages) Provide a description of needs analysis procedures  Who participated in the needs analysis? Provide information aboutØ the participants.  What types of data were collected? How were data collected?Ø Describe the instruments that were used and the data collection procedures.  How were the data analyzed? Describe methods/procedures usedØ to analyze the data. Present a summary and interpretation of results  What were the main results of your data analysis?Ø  What were your interpretations of the results?Ø Conclusion, comments, and recommendations (2-3 pages) Present your conclusions about learners’ needs based on your interpretations of the results of needs analysis Present recommendations for curriculum revision/development Description of members’ contributions (1 page) Provide a brief description of each member’s contributions to the needs analysis assignment References Provide a complete list of all sources cited in your needs analysis report Appended instruments Append the instruments used for your needs analysis (e.g., questionnaires, interview guides, focus group questions, observation schemes, sample transcripts of interviews, and data summary sheets)
