Business Concept:The business concept you will report on depends on which business concept is in the Word document ‘P-easy handout’

Referencing: Min 3 academic references and using UTS Harvard Style Referencing.

SCENARIO: Congratulations! UTS Insearch likes your business concept, but still needs you to report on the External Industry Analysis, as well as some Strategies that will reinforce your success in achieving your business objectives and gaining competitive advantages.

You are required to include the below information in your report;

1- Industry Analysis (Porter’s 5 Forces) Task: You MUST use the IBIS World report, as per indicated in the presentation handout summary of the winning business concept, to Research and analyze Porter’s 5 Forces. In addition to this, you may also expand your research by using other credible Industry reports such as MarketLine, Euromonitor, Datamonitor, Statista, etc..

a. Industry rivalry

b. Barriers to entry

c. Bargaining power of customers

d. Bargaining power of suppliers

e. Substitute Products

Tip: Do not formulate your own opinion. The information in this section needs to be current and accurate ( I upload one PDF document which is from IBIS WORLD, please must use this IBIS World report).

2- Strategies and/ processes to gain competitive advantages

Task: Formulate strategies in order to showcase how your business will meet its objectives while maintaining its value proposition (so you may re-state your value proposition as you introduce this section) and gain competitive advantages. You will also need to comply with the below strategic expectations;

a. Porter’s Generic Strategies ( use one)

b. Strategy Formulation : (use two)

•A cost leadership strategy seeks to operate with lower costs than competitors to a broad market.( must use)

•A focused differentiation strategy offers a unique product within a special market segment.

•A focused cost leadership strategy seeks the lowest costs of operations within a special market segment.(Chose one)

c. Any strategy and/or process from TIPS ( use one or two)

(Use at least 1, but maximum 2 of each)

TIP:

Things to remember and avoid:

 Do not write about the SWOT

 You do not need to discuss the organizational chart or personnel roles

 You must analyse all 5 of Porter’s 5 Force Model

 Make sure that the strategies you choose are able to illustrate how you will achieve your objectives and honor the value proposition presented within the business model/concept.

 You must use IBIS WORLD as your primary source of research for your industry analysis, however you are also expected to use other sources in addition to IBIS WORLD in order to enrich your content and overall analysis.

 Do not use strategies that point towards strategic, tactical, or operational failure.

 Do not use strategies that are meant for existing businesses as it will not be realistically applied in your case since you business in a new-venture.

 Do not use leadership, motivational, or communication processes as a main strategy, however you may use them as supportive means to effective execution of a main strategy or process.
