Fourth Critique
Zoe Vania Waxman’s article (in The Holocaust, compiled and edited by Donald Niewyk) reveals many painful stories from the experiences of women during the Holocaust. The article is a harrowing read,
given the tragic ordeals that women in the article experienced. Nonetheless, this is an important topic to address, as the experience of women was one of the most troubling aspects of the period.
For this assignment, read the article carefully, then answer the following questions:
1) What is the article about? Is there a main theme? A specific argument?
2) Which story in the essay is the most relevant, meaningful, and representative?
3) Is the article compelling, well organized, and well written? Is the material she uses–mostly personal accounts–strong evidence? If so, why?
introduce your critique with a brief introductory paragraph where you note the subject of your critique.
