The goal of this paper is to help you synthesize the leadership topics learned so far to form a more informed understanding of your unique leadership style.

Instructions

There are no specific page requirements; however, five to ten pages, excluding cover and reference pages, are an appropriate baseline.

For this paper, examine the leadership and managerial aspects of your most recent professional leadership role. Using the Welch Way Leadership Principle(s) and 8 Essential Rules specifically, assess your key strengths and your areas of potential development. Fully explore the nature of the identified strengths and areas of development, providing examples from your experience. Recall topics covered in the course, including the Jack Welch Leadership Principles (including Mission/Values, Candor, Differentiation, and Voice and Dignity), and the eight leadership rules listed in Winning. We have also explored topics such as Goleman’s theory of Emotional Intelligence and your personal leadership style. All that you write should be in the context of all we have studied to this point in the course,

Writing Suggestions

Consider using Jack’s principles and practices as a lens to assess your own strengths and weaknesses.

Consider the following sections for paper organization:

• Leadership experience and/or aspirations and goals
• Leadership strengths – Provide a clear demonstration of your strengths as they pertain to your leadership o Provide a plan to leverage and further develop these strengths in specific terms
• Identified Leadership area to develop – Provide clear demonstration of how you can improve your leadership in all contexts o Provide a specific and actionable plan to demonstrate your understanding and intentions to immediately improve

Consider the following questions as you write your paper, integrating the reflection into the above sections:

• How have these experiences impacted you as a leader?
• How do these strengths and areas of development relate to aspects of your emotional intelligence and your DiSC profile?
• What specific steps and actions are you planning to further improve on your strengths and cultivate areas for development?
