In this project students will use project management techniques to lay out a strategy to help them to accomplish a personal or professional goal (idea).
The project will be submitted through Canvas Assignments.
Students are to maintain academic honesty and professionalism while working on this project. Students are to work individually on this project. No groups or outside assistance. Any use of someone else’s work will result in a zero for the project and possible other academic ramifications. If you have any questions regarding this please contact me.
Take a personal or professional goal (idea) and apply project management techniques tot layout a strategy to help accomplish that goal (idea). Some possible ideas:
• Career goal such as earn a college degree, CPA, business owner, etc.
• Project for work
• Dream vacation
• Buy a home
• Restore an old car
Try to keep this as simple as possible and have fun developing your goal (idea).
Requirements:
1) (25 points) Create a scope statement for this project. Use pages 102 – 103 as a guide. The statement should look something like the example provided on page 105.
2) (25 points) Create a work breakdown structure, WBS.
3) (10 points) What are the potential risks for this project? Explain the possible consequences and provide a contingency plan.
4) (40 points) From the WBS establish the project activities and construct a project network diagram. Use your estimates (make them as realistic as possible) for the activity duration time and then determine the following:
• Project network diagram showing the activity predecessors and successors
• Early and late start times, EST and LST
• Early and late finish times, EFT and LFT
• Slack
• Critical path
You can use either Critical Path Management (Chapter 6) or PERT (Chapter 7) for part 4.
